The marching band and drum corps Summer Sounds 2019 competition season kicks off in Arklow this weekend as the Inbhear Mór Performance Ensemble (formerly Inbhear Mór Marchers) host the first show of the season on Saturday, July 20th.
The event which runs alongside the annual Seabreeze Festival is guaranteed to be a fantastic afternoon of music, dance and colour for all ages. The competition will feature the top Marching Bands and Drum Corps from all over Ireland.
Following on from a hugely successful season last year, the local group Inbhear Mór Performance Ensemble will once again be competing in the Senior Class this year and urge the people of Arklow to come along and support the home team. This competition is part of the ‘European Summer Music Games’ which includes 15 competitions across Europe over four months,and is the first of three Irish shows this summer.
The show takes place in Arklow Celtic Football Club (Coolgreaney Road). Gates open at 1.30 p.m. and the show starts at 2 p.m. sharp. Admission is €5 for Adults, €2 for children.
In the evening at 7.30pm “Drum Corps Rock the Town” will take place with the marching band ensemble taking over the main stage.
Competitors
In the Soundsport section the Inbhear Mor Cadets and the Tallaght Marching Band Cadets will compete. Then in the DCE Premier Class Celtic Crusaders, Clondakin Youth Band, Vikings Drum Corps, Inbhear Mor Performance Ensemble will all compete.
It promises to be a great day of entertainment and family fun.
