HOLY CROSS ACCORDION BAND TO TAKE TWO BANDS TO ENNIS

This year the Holy Cross Accordion Band will be taking two bands to the Fleadh Cheoil in Ennis. This will be historic for the band as it will be the first time they will have taken a junior and senior accordion band to the competition in the same year. It would be even more historic if both bands manage to win. They will face tough competiton though. In the Junior Accordion they will be up against K and S who won the All Ireland in 2015 and will be back to defend their title. In the senior section forbidable marching band and arch rivals St Brigids Jonesboragh will be out to beat them. The former three in a row champions of 2007-2009 have only improved this their golden period and will want to build on their All Ireland success from 2015.

It will be an extremly challenging time for the band, being from such a small comuntiy has meant that many of the junior band members are part of the senior band. This could result in possible confusion during one of the competitions mixing up one routine for the other and particularly younger members may struggle with the nerves and the presure of competing twice.

Both bands have been successful this year winning the County Fleadh and Ulster Fleadh for both but they are yet to come up against any cometition which could go against them. In the Ulster Fleadh the junior band put on a very average performance with many key mistakes made. The Senior band are experienced enough to know what is required to win but will the Junior band have what it takes? Only time will tell.
