It was an emotional and unforgettable weekend for Cloughaneely as both of the town’s bands struck gold at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, winning the Junior Miscellaneous and Senior Miscellaneous All-Ireland titles.

In the Junior Miscellaneous section, Cloughaneely Junior Band delivered a vibrant and well-drilled performance to claim the top spot ahead of the ever-improving St Kevin’s Marching Band from Ferns, County Wexford. The juniors impressed judges with their crisp drill work, lively arrangements, and a spirited display that reflected the dedication and hours of practice put in throughout the season. This victory marks their seventh All-Ireland title in the last decade, adding another proud chapter to the band’s history.

Meanwhile, in the Senior Miscellaneous section, Cloughaneely Senior Band continued their strong tradition of excellence. As the only competing band in their section this year, they could only beat what was in front of them – and they did so with trademark style and professionalism. Their polished display was a testament to the countless hours of preparation put in over the season, and it delivered them their eighth All-Ireland title.

The weekend carried extra emotion for everyone connected to the bands following the recent passing of Enya Mc Murrough, a much-loved member of the Cloughaneely band family. Her loss was deeply felt within the community. The success in Wexford was seen by many as a fitting tribute, with players and supporters alike carrying her in their thoughts throughout the weekend.

The double victory was made all the more special by the emotions surrounding the occasion. For players, supporters, and the community, it was a celebration not only of musical achievement but also of resilience, dedication, and the shared bond that comes from performing together on one of the biggest stages in the marching band calendar.

With two more All-Ireland titles now secured, Cloughaneely can take pride in another successful year — one that will be remembered for the music, the emotion, and the lasting sense of pride it has brought to the area.
