Senior Miscellaneous Set for Showdown as Cloughaneely and St. Roch’s Aim for All-Ireland Glory
The Senior Miscellaneous category at this weekend’s All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann promises to deliver creativity, flair, and fierce competition — with Cloughaneely Senior Band confirmed to represent Donegal, and reigning champions St. Roch’s Marching Band potentially returning to defend their title.

Cloughaneely head to Wexford following a strong season, highlighted by their recent victory in the Senior Miscellaneous category at the Ulster Fleadh in Warrenpoint. Their lively and well-executed performance not only secured their All-Ireland qualification, but also gave them the advantage of receiving early adjudication — providing valuable feedback ahead of this Sunday’s competition and time to refine their routine.

St. Roch’s: Last Years Champions, but Will They Return?
The big unknown in this category is whether St. Roch’s Marching Band from Glasgow will return to defend their crown. Winners of the Senior Miscellaneous All-Ireland title in 2024, the Scots delivered a commanding performance last year and would be strong favourites again if they choose to compete.

They have officially qualified as they won last year, but at the time of writing, have not publicly confirmed their participation. We have tried to contact the group but have got no confirmation, and it’s worth noting their Senior Grúpa Cheoil has also qualified for this year’s Fleadh — which may indicate their focus has shifted to that category.
If they do return, it sets the stage for a compelling clash between the reigning champions and Cloughaneely’s rising force.
All Eyes on Wexford
With or without St. Roch’s, this year’s Senior Miscellaneous promises excitement, especially with bands like Cloughaneely bringing renewed energy to the field after last year.
