The Donegal Fleadh marching band competitions took place today, with bands from across the county gathering to compete ahead of the summer season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramelton Town Band enjoyed a memorable return to competition, claiming the senior Miscellaneous Donegal title after reforming in October for the first time since their All Ireland victory in 2019. The result marks the band\u2019s first competition success in six years and continues what has been a positive rebuilding period for the group. Attention will now turn towards the Ulster Fleadh in July as the band prepares for further competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mullaghduff Fife and Drum Band also returned to this year\u2019s Donegal Fleadh after winning last year\u2019s title. The band had stepped away from competition following the 2017 season before making their return last year and earlier this year they competed at the Easter Sunday competition in Dungloe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the junior section, Cloughaneely Junior Band secured their fourth consecutive junior Donegal title. The band will now turn their attention towards the Ulster Fleadh later this summer, where they will hope to claim a fourth consecutive Ulster title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year after year, it continues to be impressive to see such a young band performing to such a high standard while also maintaining strong numbers and bringing through the next generation of musicians. At a time when technology has such a major influence on young people, it is encouraging to see traditions like marching bands continuing to thrive and attract younger members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although only three bands competed across the marching band sections this year, the event still provided an important outing ahead of the Ulster Fleadh and upcoming All-Ireland competitions later in the season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
