Dungloe\u2019s Easter Sunday Parade once again proved to be a key highlight in the county\u2019s cultural calendar, drawing strong local support and showcasing some of Donegal\u2019s finest marching talent. Eleven bands from across the county took part in this year\u2019s event, marking the official start of the competitive season for many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stepping off at 3:30 PM, the parade followed its traditional route through the town centre, with crowds lining Main Street to catch a glimpse of the colourful performances and precision marching. Judging took place across a range of categories, with both competitive and non-competitive entries on display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maghery Band Take Top Honours<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leading the results was the Maghery Senior Competitive Band, who delivered an outstanding performance that earned them a sweep of top awards. The band took home Best Band on Parade, Best Drum Major, Best Drum Corps, Best Music, and Best Senior Fife and Drum. Their non-competing unit also received the title of Best Non-Competing Band, further highlighting the strength and consistency within the Maghery ranks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The win adds to their growing list of accolades, as the band continues a dominant run on the national stage, including eight consecutive All-Ireland Senior Flute titles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strong Performances from Across the County<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

St. Catherine\u2019s Band from Killybegs, who celebrated their first All-Ireland title in 2024, claimed Best Majorettes \u2014 another milestone for the growing group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local pride was also strong, with Dungloe Junior Band awarded Best Novice Band, while Cloughaneely Junior Band \u2014 the reigning All-Ireland champions in their category \u2014 were named Best Miscellaneous\/Accordion Band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Strong Start to the Season<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dungloe Easter Parade remains one of Ireland\u2019s most respected local showcases for marching bands, previously holding the record for the largest parade of its kind in the country. With the high standard displayed this year, many of the bands now turn their attention to the Fleadh Cheoil, where several Donegal groups are expected to compete for top honours again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
