The Maghery Fife & Drum Band have once again written their name into the record books after winning the Senior Flute All-Ireland title for the ninth consecutive year at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann — their 13th All-Ireland title overall.

The Donegal powerhouse, who have dominated the Senior Flute section since 2015, delivered another outstanding performance, living up to their reputation for excellence. Known for their immaculate marching, tight musical arrangements, and unwavering discipline, Maghery consistently perform at the very highest level, and 2025 was no different.

While there were no other bands in the Senior Flute section this year, Maghery could only beat what was in front of them — and they did so in style. Every detail of their presentation, from their formation changes to their musical phrasing, reflected the countless hours of preparation put in by members throughout the season.

This latest win not only equals the record of nine consecutive Senior Flute titles, previously held by Mullaghduff Fife & Drum Band (2006–2014), but also moves Maghery to just one win away from equalling the most All-Ireland titles ever won by a single band — an incredible milestone in the history of the competition.

Since their first Senior Flute win in 2015, Maghery have shown remarkable consistency. Every time they step onto the competition route, the standard remains exceptionally high, whether facing a full field of challengers or standing alone in their section. That consistency has been the hallmark of their success — they don’t just win; they perform brilliantly year after year. As we said earlier this week they don’t arrive to compete they arrive to set the bar and more often than not they raise it.

The celebrations following this latest victory were as lively as ever. Supporters lined the streets of Maghery to welcome the band home, marking the occasion with music, cheers, and community pride. For many, the band’s ongoing success represents not just musical achievement, but a shared identity and a tradition worth treasuring.

With 13 All-Ireland titles now secured, and nine of them consecutive Senior Flute titles, Maghery’s place among the greats is unquestionable — and their journey isn’t over
