The Letterkenny & District Pipe Band celebrated a landmark moment today (Sunday, July 20, 2025) as they captured their first Ulster title at the Ulster Fleadh in Warrenpoint. The band, featuring a notably youthful line-up of pipers and drummers, impressed with a sharp and energetic performance that stood out throughout the day.

A Breakthrough Victory

This success is particularly meaningful for Letterkenny. After finishing as runners-up in 2023, they qualified for the 2024 Ulster Fleadh but ultimately did not compete. Today’s win demonstrates their determination and progress over the past two seasons, culminating in a well-deserved title.

Success in Grade 2B

Letterkenny’s momentum has been building all year, with notable performances and results in Grade 2B competitions earlier in the season. Their strong form in these events has helped prepare the band for the high standards of provincial and national contests.

Facing Clonoe Independent at the All-Ireland

Next, the band will turn their attention to the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in August, where they will face Clonoe Independent Pipe Band—the reigning champions who secured back-to-back All-Ireland titles in 2023 and 2024. It promises to be a closely watched contest, with Letterkenny eager to challenge one of the most dominant bands on the circuit.

Youthful Energy, Professional Sound

Despite their young roster, the band delivered a polished and confident performance in Warrenpoint, showcasing both their technical ability and vibrant energy. The blend of fresh talent and experienced leadership has created a winning formula that looks set to carry them into future successes.
