In a heartwarming comeback story, Clone Independent Pipe Band has risen from the shadows to claim the coveted All Ireland Fleadh pipe band title. Their victory marks a triumphant return after a hiatus of two decades and their first All Ireland Title in 29 years.
The band’s previous string of triumphs, a treble from 1992 to 1994, remains a cherished memory for the members and today remarkably many of those same members from the 90s have won their 4th All Ireland title with the band.
After a prolonged absence, the band reformed earlier this year, igniting a renewed sense of purpose and a burning desire to once again make their mark on the grand stage of the All Ireland Fleadh.
Their triumphant return was marked by an impressive victory at the Ulster Fleadh, where they overcame reigning champions Letterkenny Pipe Band, sending a clear signal that the band was back in contention and stronger than ever. The Ulster victory not only bolstered the band’s confidence but also set the stage for their performance at the All Ireland Fleadh.
The band will take part in the parade this afternoon, which will go through the streets of Mullingar performing to thousands.
