This Friday and Saturday members from the Senior Compeitive Band at the Maghery Band Academy will make history with their first ever performance at the Belfast international tatoo. They will join bands from all over the world across three performances. With many of them being Pipe bands Maghery will definitely stand out and many believe they will be the highlight of the night.
It was not however their intention to perform so close to home. They had planned to head to Liverpool for the weekend and were no doubt very disappointed when it was cancelled but luckily they’ve been chosen to perform in Belfast now instead. This will make them the first ever band from Donegal to perform at the Belfast International Tatoo.
With their unique style and excellent mix of traditional and contemporary tunes they will no doubt impress the thousands who will pack into the SSE Arena which holds 12,000 people at its capacity. They will definitely stand out from all the other bands and this could be one of the bands biggest ever performances to their largest and most varied audience with people coming from all over the world to attend.
The band will look finish their year on a high after making history this year, performing across the east coast of USA, they also won the Annual Easter Competition in Dungloe and won their fifth consecutive All Ireland Fleadh title just a few weeks ago. What a year it’s been for them!
