Yesterday the Maghery Fife and Drum Band put on a masterclass in the Senior Flute section to become the All Ireland Champions for the Tenth time. This was the fifth year in a row the band won the competition and the first time the band completed the historic drive for five.
The band then went on to celebrate in style by marching through the packed streets of Drogheda to thousands of spectators cheering the champions on. The icing on the cake for the band was when they had the privilege of being asked to perform live on TG4 Fleadh Tv this was the first time a marching band had been given the opportunity and great exposure for them to millions across the world. Hopefully more bands get this amazing opportunity in the future.
The band has had an amazing year so far with their tour of USA, winning the Dungloe Competition and now five time All Ireland Champions. They will now start preparations for their huge performance at the Belfast Tattoo in September.
