After the first provincial Fleadh yesterday in Connacht we now know the first bands who have qualified for the All Ireland Fleadh 2019.

In the Senior Miscellaneous section the Foxford Brass and Reed Band go through to their first All Ireland. It is rare to see a brass band competing at Fleadh but they will be a welcome surprise package to this year’s Fleadh. They may cause surprise too many people who could underestimate their talents and dedication and the first timers may cause an upset to some of the Fleadh veterans.

In the Pipe Band Section we have Crimlin Batafada Band, who came through the Mayo and Connacht Fleadh. They previously won the All Ireland in 2012 and beat the St Joseph’s Pipe Band who won in 2011. Last year St Josephs won the All Ireland and they’re entered for the Ulster Fleadh so should they make it through (extremely likely) it will be an interesting battle.

These bands join the three Senior All Ireland Winners from 2018, Maghery Fife and Drum, Cloich Cheann Fhaola Senior and Holy Cross Accordion Band.

The 2019 Full Fleadh Line up so far is;

Senior Flute

-Maghery Fife and Drum

Senior Accordion

– Holy Cross Accordion Atticall

Senior Miscellaneous

– Cloich Cheann Fhaola Senior

– Foxford Brass and Reed Band (Connacht Champions)

Pipe Bands

– Crimlin Batafada Pipe Band ( Connacht Champions)

This Sunday is the Leinster Fleadh so look out for our preview on Friday for the bands taking part and next Monday so we can add to this list of qualified bands.
