The bands of the IMBA returned to UCD Sports center for their second soundsport and winterguard competition at the venue. Once again the UCD venue generated a fantastic atmosphere with all seats taken and each side of the stand filling up with spectators.
In all 15 groups participated in three categories, the competition moved at a fast pace with all performances completed in just over two hours.
In the Winterguard junior category, Mullingar Town Band Colourguard were crowned champions, overcoming the winners of the February WG competition WinterFestival Juniors.
In the Senior Championship Clondalkin Youth Band Colour Guard made top honors with their show based on the musical the greatest showman.
In Soundsport Junior groups from Mullingar, Clondalkin, Tallaght Marching Band and Inbhear Mór were all awarded bronze awards. Clara Town Band Junior band made their Soundsport debut with a bronze award.
Silver awards went to Gaelcholaiste na Mara Inbhear Mór and Mullingar Town Band Celtic Crusaders.
TMB’s Marching Vikings Drum Corps, Clondalkin Youth Band and Inbhear Mór Performance Ensemble gave us a taste of their forthcoming summer shows, with all three groups awarded a Gold Medal. Inbhear Mór made best in show with their medley of Queen classics getting a rousing reception from the audience.
