Six Of The Best: Clonoe Claim Sixth All-Ireland Fleadh Pipe Band Title
Clonoe Independent Pipe Band have been crowned All-Ireland winners in Belfast, claiming a sixth title and adding another chapter to a remarkable history stretching back more than three decades.
The Tyrone band took first place in the Pipe Marching Bands competition at the 2026 Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann at Titanic Slipways on Sunday, finishing ahead of Achill Pipe Band in second, with the visiting New York band taking third.

Longstone Pipe Band, who had qualified for Belfast through the Ulster Fleadh, did not compete.
Sunday’s success brings Clonoe’s remarkable All-Ireland story full circle, with the band’s six victories now coming across two distinct generations.
Their first period of dominance came in the early 1990s, when Clonoe completed a hat-trick of All-Ireland victories in 1991, 1992 and 1993.
It would be 30 years before they returned to the top of the All-Ireland podium, winning again in 2023 before successfully retaining the title in 2024.
Clonoe did not compete at the 2025 All-Ireland, but returned to the competition in Belfast this weekend and picked up exactly where they had left off – with another victory.
The result means Clonoe have now won the All-Ireland on each of their last three appearances: 2023, 2024 and 2026.
It also completes an impressive double for the Tyrone band this summer after they won the pipe band competition at the Ulster Fleadh last month.
Achill produced a strong performance to secure second place, while New York’s third-place finish capped a memorable visit to Belfast for the overseas band.
For Clonoe, however, Belfast brings All-Ireland title number six.
From three consecutive victories between 1991 and 1993 to another three wins across their last three All-Ireland appearances, two generations of Clonoe pipers are now linked by the same achievement – becoming All-Ireland winners.
